Artist - Kay Bazzard

Kay Bazzard is a figurative ceramic artist and writer. Her ceramic practice focuses on the human figure and through it she explores the human psyche as expressed in gesture, expression, and movement. She draws on her own emotional history and from observing and interpreting the moods and behaviours of others.

Kay likes to experiment with different glazes, clays and techniques. She often incorporates unusual elements such as using old macracarpa or copper. Kay’s sculptures are suited to being both inside or outside.

Kay Bazzard works at Gallery Te Puna include the Raku fired figure sculptures ‘Othello’ and ‘Hamlet’.
