With a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the Pratt Institute in New York City, Stefanie is a practicing artistic photographer and photography educator. Stefanie engages with issues of perception, representation and ways of seeing. She is drawn toward photographing identities of place rather than people and exhibits both nationally and internationally.
Stefanie’s multi-exposure Circumnavigate images are from the Fictional Landscapes series of work, which explores ideas about the representation of landscape as both physical and multisensory, and encoded with layers of cultural meaning and values. Landscape is often considered symbolic, acting as a construct of the real world as an artefact to cultural ideologies about place and time.
Stefanie Young works at Gallery Te Puna include original artistic photography.
